Is it possible to get the login code to programme control modules without having to revert to a main dealer?

A lot of them are either in the label files for the controller or on the Ross Tech website. What car is it and what are you trying to do?

05 passat, abs module needs recoding after fitting steering wheel angle sensor. I couldn't find how to get the login code on the rosstech site.

Do you just need the login code to do the steering angle sensor basic settings? If so 40168 should do the trick.

No, that's coming up in a pop up window - the abs module needs to be recoded after fitting the new angle sensor and a login code and value is needed for this. The only reference for this login code is to get it from a dealer or erWin, which charges you for it. I'm wondering if there's anywhere the code can be gotten for free (local dealer won't give it out, they want the car brought in)

I have changed steering angle sensors plenty of times before and never needed to recode an ABS module afterwards. Is this a 3B or a 3C Passat? What fault are you having that you need to recode the module? When you say recode what do you actually mean? Is your VCDS lead genuine Ross Tech or not?

Genuine lead, won't let me set up steering angle sensor (can't think off hand why it wouldn't let me)

If your lead is genuine then email Ross Tech support they are very helpful in my experience.

What happens if you try to follow the basic setting procedure for the steering angle sensor?
    Steering Angle Sensor (G85) Calibration

Before starting the procedure turn the steering wheel at least 30 ° left and back straight ahead.

    [Meas. Blocks - 08]
Group 005 Field 1 (Steering Angle Sensor -G85-)
    Specification: 0.0 °
    Tolerance (when straight): ±5.0 °
    [Done, Go Back]

    [Login - 11]
    Enter 40168
    [Do It!]

    [Basic Settings - 04]
    Group 001
    [Go!]
    [Done, Go Back]

    [Fault Codes - 02]
All fault codes should have disappeared.
    [Done, Go Back]

So, how do you get the login code to recode the module?

Post an autoscan here if you can.

I have two of those Passats in work at the moment, I will check it out on those for you tomorrow.
