    Try before you buy,
Putters are the one club that is totally personal. Make sure to try out as many as you can.

Personally I use a 2 ball odyssey putter and love it, I was having major issues inside 4 feet and loads of people told me to try it, I did and my short putting has really improved.

Also try and compare all in the one shop, it much easier it hit a few with one putter, switch and then make a decision.

If your in Dublin, try halpenny in Lucan, seem to have most putters and I spent a good 30/40 minutes trying most of the putters before buying. They just left me alone and told me to give them a shout if I needed anything.

    Best of luck,

    Oh and after you buy...
    Practice practice practice

Just remember practicing on the artificial putting surfaces in shops etc can be great fun ........ you will pop them in from everywhere.

One of my first experiences of how to scam mug golfers was the old Musgrave Pro-am in Woodbrook in the 70s. These guys had pitched up with an artificial putting green and were selling cheap immitation Ping putters. The customers were cueing to have a go and spend their cash as they rolled in the putts. Even in my early teens, I knew there was something wrong. Eventually my turn to putt came and sure enough I bagged a right to left 12ft roller ...... then another and so when I hit my third ball left you can imaging the smile on my face as it amazingly rolled left to right and into the cup. Yes, the surface was concave and you could only miss by hitting you putt hard. I went off to see the pro I was caddying for and he laughted, say it was one of the oldest tricks around.

    Ps
I used to work every summer at the golf club and the club professional was a gentleman who always looked after us and brought us to caddy for him (using a trolley of course). I learned more about life than golf by caddying and its something that I think is something that would benefit a lot of kids today.

My putter is the Nike Method 5i. I hated it for the first few games but then got the feel of it and the right grip position to give a sweet spot hit every time, would never consider another putter now. If you want to find your putters sweet spot, hold it straight out in front of you between your thumb and index finger only at a point just below the grip with the putter head reversed (as if it was being held by someone in front of you). Now use a ball and knock or tap the putter face lightly, you are trying to get a pendulum effect...... as you move your taps across the putter face you will feel the exact point where the putter does not twist and it comes back to rest on your ball. That point is your sweet spot and you should mark it. Its often differs from the line or notch that is provided by the makers (they usually just put a centre line). Its an old tip from the pro I caddied for and it may or may not be of use to everyone.

Both are excellent Putters, beautiful roll of both of them. Really a personal choice.

One thing though is the Nike Method, doubt you could get a nicer blade for the money. I was playing with a guy last year and I happened to mention I was looking to change my putter but had to hang on a while as did not have the cash at the time, he mentioned the Method because of the cost and went on to give it a great review.

I subsequently tried it myself and it did roll brilliantly, didn't end up with it in the end as I rather a mid-mallet but if I was ever looking for a blade it would probably be a Method or Rife (Worth a look) blade.

Just changed from Odyssey 2-ball to the Nike Method 001 last week. I'm just getting used to the switch from mallet to blade and I've only played one game so far, plus about 20 mins on a putting green, but it feels great.

Purchased a Odyssey Black series blade just before Christmas and have really been struggling with it. Borrowed my old man's Odyssey last night for a few holes and putted the best I have in ages. It's the same one as Luke Donald uses
