1000th 777 takes flight

    Who knows, but she is a beauty!

    Isn't it amazing.. Since it entered commercial service in 1995, it takes 17 years (and 6 versions if you consider the original -200, then the 200ER (originally called the IGW (Increased Gross Weight version), the stretched -300 series, then the -300ER( the best selling version of the 777 series), the -200LR (Long range) an ultra long range version and the -200F, the freighter version) for the 1,000th 777 to be rolled off the Everett production site.

    It took the 747 approximately 23 years (and coincidentally, 6 versions if you consider the original -100, then the standard -200 series, the 200 freighter model, the SP (Special Performance series) the stretched upper deck -300 model) and the -400 version which was the best selling version of the 747 family) for the 1,000th 747 to be delivered to Singapore Airlines in 1993.

    777 really is a spectacular airliner.. A beauty, but so too is the 747!

    What are the chances she'll be on the Dublin route when I fly out in December?

    I love the reg.....A6-EGO.

    With almost 100 B777's in service I would guess about 1%.
    Now if it will only be the B773ER on the DXB-DUB route then you will have better than 1 in 70 chance. ;)

    Maybe you should change your username to 'GREEN punto'. is there a jealous 'smiley' available??:P

    The only way I won't get a window seat is if they send in a freighter!!!!!!:D

    I agree a lovely aircraft.

    However I flew last week on an Emirates 777 and it wasnt a great experience. 10 abreast seating is too much for a 777. An aisle so narrow that you have to go sideways down it! Makes sleeping in an aisle seat impossible in economy due to everyone knocking into you. Seat width is also very narrow.

    My flight to Dubai however on the A330 was a much better experience.

    Sorry meant to say that there were 9 versions of the 747 that existed up to the 1,000th 747 in 1993, I forgot to include the combi version of the -200 version (-200C), the combi version of the 400 (-400M) and the freighter version of the -400 version (-400F)

    you realise thats a new 777 rolling out the door every approx 6.2 Most likely even less as production may have been slower in the early years.

    A new 777 every 6.2 days is impressive

    WOW that is very impressive!

    The future of the 777 is safe!
    Have you seen the plans Boeing has made for a replacement of the 300ER and 200LR? The 777-8 and b777-9!

    I love this airliner, its incredibly beautiful, even though I also have a strong fondness for the 747 too!
