Sky 3d - trial period

I called SKY today to see if they would give me access to the 3d channels for a trial period without being locked into the additional spend for a whole year but there were unwilling to do so...

I'm a relatively new subscriber to SKY - was wondering if anyone else had tried the same route and had more success?

I mainly wanted to try it out on my new TV (3d) to watch the US Masters in a few weeks and then make a decision about whether i wanted to keep it.

    TIA
    B.

Can't most new 3d tv's upscale HD channels to 3d anyway? Try that out, results vary depending on the stuff being upscaled but golf should be fine as it's not exactly a fast moving sport.

If you have a smart tv there should be 3D content available for you. I know that it does for Samsung and Sony anyway.

@Minstrel - not that I've found, but it has an open browser and a youtube app so I'll see if I can find something there

@zerks - I'll check that out, but to get the HD channels you have to sign up for a year (which includes the 3d channels)

@Hogzy - thanks - but Im more interested in 3d sport channels live than movies for example

For what it's worth I went to a pub during the last Ryder Cup which had some 3D coverage. I found it just OK.

You had a greater understanding of the "depth" of a bunker, but when it came to reading greens, seeing the slopes, etc, it wasn't that impressive. I also had to sit directly across from the screen and view the images "head on". If I sat lookng up or down, all I saw was the double image. It all looked rather gimicky.

That said, things may have improved since then.
