Mechanic is this a good price quoted?

    my nct failed on my 96 honda civic hatchback

    it failed on trackin (repeat side slip test)

    Axle an wishbone bushes worn rear..

    went to a mechanic in glasnevin and got quoted 170 euro

    is this a good price or does anybody know a better place or price?.

    There would be a bit of labour involved in replacing a rear axle bushing alright, unless that mechanic had the specific air driven tool to push out old bush and drive in new bush wthout removing the rear swing arm completely. The bush itself wouldnt set you back more than 20. Laser wheel alignmet can be done for 40-45, assuming there is no labour involved in getting the track rods loosened up.
    Its not an unreasonable price for the job to be fair

    if its only the Bushings then that price is expensive, as said Bushings are extreamly cheap to buy and the cost would be all in the labour, But any mechanic worth their salt should have the correct tools as it is normal wear and tear and should be something they see a lot of. Just shop around and find a guy who can do the job cheaper as I know some places will fog you off if the dont have the correct tools saying they need to replace the part the bushing is sitting in rather than just replace the bushes and charge you an arm and a leg to buy the new part.
