I'm sure its still there just like every other car you have had. Probably tucked in under window scuttle panel.

Brake fluid - are you sure it requires top up and isn't just requesting the usual brake fluid change (every 2 years I believe)?

you could be right fmul but i thought a check on the level first just to make sure.
would that be the norm for most cars -every two years?
i removed both filters in the engine bay underneath the front windscreen but still could nt find them-are bmw having a laugh:eek:

Have a look on the CBS on the i drive and see what the brake fluid info reads.

In order to get to the brake master cylinder which should be on the drivers side, you have to remove all of the micro filter housing. You will need a spanner or socket (to twist the 3 plastic quick turn nuts 90 degrees )and a philips head screw on each tray to remove them. There is also a rubber sealing strip and a plastic clip to release.

They do hide it away alright. if you are looking into the engine bay from the fron,t, where the left strut tower is there is a black plastic cowling, that forms part of the cabin filter housing, remover this, the cabin filter and then the box that the filter sits in. behold you have found your brake fluid reservoir.
Fluid should be changed every 2 years, but you dont need to go to BMW. The iDrive system will alert you to this interval on the HUD.
