Hi lads, any feedback on the above would be very helpfull. I looked at a 2005 model today with 71000 mls and very clean. €2600, doe till Sept etc
Looks an ideal van for me and would only do light work and fairly small mileage.I've been told they're very economical.
But are there any specific things I should look out for (timing belt) etc?
I've always used Citroen/Peugeot but with diesel costs now I have to try and get overheads down as much as possible.
    Any help will be appreciated.

always check the belt interval and if the seller says it done, seek documentation of same.
A fresh doe would be a must too.

No belt in 1.3lt diesel. It is a reliable engine if it is maintained. it is a 75bhp engine so set your performance expectations wisely. Expect 5.0-7.0 lt/100 km fuel consumption depends on your driving.

Hi Kerten and MidlandsM, thanks for the quick replies. Glad to hear its a timing chain and not a belt. Any idea on their lifespan when properly looked after? I know some people are anti-fiat so it's good to hear from somebody neutral! One garage I spoke to has a 06 coming this week but theres 260k kms on it!

I bought an 09 passenger doblo recently. Can't vouch for reliability as I haven't had it long enough. It is very comfortable to drive (massive space in the back) and steering gearchange etc light and precise. Mixed driving suburban and dual carriageway are returning me 41 mpg just under (7l per 100 km) which is good but not as good as advertised. Notice also that best consumption on carriageway is round the 90 -100 kph. 120 kph seems to suck up the juice. So far I like the doblo a lot and am pleased to have bought it.

    +1

Small engine + high wind resistance due to shape causes high fuel consumption at higher speeds.

I know taxis with same engine can do quite high mileages in my home country which has much harsher traffic and climate. So you should be fine as long as it is serviced properly.
