Went to a dentist to get a filling and he started drilling elsewhere saying it had problems. So I was wondering do dentists intentionally damage teeth's to make a return customer?

Had a dentist I went to a few times tell me I needed 6 fillings which I could not afford and did not return to get them,
a year later I went to a different dentist for a check up and clean and
he said my teeth were fine. I told him my last dentist said I needed fillings and
he said Nope! did not need any.

Know of a dentist who gave a whole list of problems to a patient, saying she needed urgent treatment. It wasn't her regular dentist, as she was nearly 4hrs away from him. She was in doubt so called her original dentist for a second opinion and asked would it be normal. Dentist said unlikely, based on previous XRays, but it may be possible and only way to know would be to get it checked.

She went back to the original dentist, who looked her over and did XRays etc. and said there was only one filling needed and not a whole host of things the other dentist said (mostly root canals).

    Mind boggles.

    Don't go to a butcher...get yourself a decent dentist...

But in fairness, I hardly think he would risk being struck off, doing dodgy drilling.... You prob did need the work done!

I went to a shop and bought food, but after a few hours it made me hungry, so I had to go back for more.

that's what I thought when I went to have an upper one filled n she said I needed to have two lower ones filled too; same tooth either side. Said signs of rot in the cavity.. I asked te ould wan but she pretty much refused to have a proper look :/ feigned a glance so I'll never know.
