making your own nut butter

I'd like to have a go at making almond butter. Does anyone have any tips before I waste loads in experimentation?

The basic 'recipe' seems to be to stick them in a food processor for 15 minutes or so. But there are also suggestions of roasting them first; and adding a little bit of oil (olive, canola and sunflower oils all suggested) to help the process along.

Mods, sorry if this this in the wrong forum. There are loads more references to nut butters here than in the Cooking forum so I thought I'd ask here.
