I was looking for a tribute thread to AP. He's some fing legend isn't he? I pity other sports that they don't have someone like him representing all that is good about the sport. I know many other jockeys would be working today if they had won the Gold Cup yesterday but it just goes to show his talent on Master Milan in the 4.40 at Ffos Las. Get a look at the replay on ATR if you can. Nearly unseated at the second last and dragged the horse from running out at the wing of the last to jump the fence and win by 20l.

How much poorer would NH be without him?

    He's the boss.

Quite simpley the greatest jump jockey of all time and a living legend :) Its so great seeing him finally smiling these days when he wins the big races as he should celebrate these days at this stage of his career..

I've taken the recent posts from the older thread and put them here so people can discuss AP's Cheltenham successes here. C.

    +1 :)
A nice chap in the public eye too, a very humble and modest man.

Delighted for all concerned, would have been a travesty if he only won one Gold Cup and no Grand National, what a difference a year makes :)

What about JP's interview? First thing he said was about Kauto, what a nice and thoroughly decent man.

    Wise head on him too...

    http://www.racinguk.com/news/article/walsh-mccoy-told-me-to-pull-kauto-up

Walsh: ‘McCoy told me to pull Kauto up’

Tony McCoy told Ruby Walsh to pull up Kauto Star during today’s Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup after the 12-year-old horse struggled to keep up with the pace early on.......................
“AP told me, 'If I was you I’d pull him up,’ and he was right.

That's a very odd thing for Ruby to come out with, not sure who would have kept riding Kauto with the way he was disappearing out the back.

Indeed, was surprised when I read that in Saturday's RP, I suppose Ruby would see AP as somewhat of a big brother figure to a degree. At the end of the day they had the best thing for Kauto in mind, credit to them both.
