Hey does anyone have any experience with this:
    http://www.seahorseaquariums.com/store/product/1792/JBL-Aqua-In-Out-Complete-Set/
It seems fairly expensive for a bit of hose and adapters but I want it as I'm sick dragging around 50 liter buckets around my house.
Also is there a way to extend the hose as I am not going to pay 34 euro for the extension?
Its for my 450 liter tropical tank.
    Thanks.

I was considering it, but I skipped it in the end because I don't want to put tapwater straight into my tank.

I do water changes with a water pump I got from lidl, a gravel syphon, and 2 80L containers, fill one with clean water 24 hrs before w/c, treat with conditioner, then syphon dirty water into the other, use the water pump to pump the clean water into the tank, and then the dirty water out into the garden, then stack the containers til the next w/c.

Was the pump expensive Silverfish? Would love to get something like that!

It was about 40 quid I think, it's a rain barrel pump and it's pretty decent.
Got it around June last year, so hopefully they'll have them again in the next few months.

They have dirty water pumps in Argos as well, but they're fairly pricey.
Not sure but I think any submersible pump will do the job, you just need to be able to run a hose from it.

60 euro in Lidl a few months back.

They are now 80 euro in Lidl.

This is an external pump,as in it doesnt need to go near the aquariam, you just drop in the black hose and that sucks out the water, and you attach a garden house to the top of the pump and run that to either your kitchen sink or else outside to the drain or a rainwater barrel so that you have water for the garden plants.

When I want to top up the tank with new water,I just simply place the black hose into the large black bin of fresh water and stick the garden hose into the top of the tank, and pump the fresh water into the tank in no time at all.

Makes life very very stress free and easy.:)

    Edit...now I get it.

that goes into the fresh water container and you pump the new/freshwater back into the tank..

    Nice one.

Yup, syphon the water out into a container using the gravel cleaner, pump the clean water in, and pump the dirty water out into the back garden, it seems to be great for the garden, we've fabulous dandelions.

the way I do my 260L is to use a large manual suction gravel cleaner to empty into one of the 25L containers, like they ones you get from Seahorse (most DIY places do them) and empty that into the kitchen sink, then have one with clean water up above the level of the aquarium and use the manual pump in reverse with the big bit inside the container pumping water back into the tank.

i'm sure i could do it more quickly, but i don't like disturbing the fish too much. i even leave the water next to the radiator to warm up so there's no temperature difference for them with the new water.

I must look into one of these pumps, I'm breaking my back with two 1 litre jugs and basically pouring the water in. Thank god it's only a 54 litre tank!
