It really depends on where you are coming from and for which match. If you are only coming for the football, then parking in town and getting the bus/taxi/walk down would be the best idea as all the local parking will be well and truly taken.
If you are there early, there will be plenty of parking within a 5 or 10 min walk of the park. Just make sure of course that you park facing the way you want to leave:)

If you are parking locally, don't park causing an obstruction or on double yellows (They're there for a reason) - take the time to find a space a little further away and walk a minute more if needs be, and even if you chose to ignore that, at least pick up your litter. It takes a good 20 minutes to clear up our housing estate after every GAA match :( (And it only happens with GAA, with the other sporting events on in the area, people always respect parking guidelines and never drop litter).

They couldn't have built a GAA ground in a worse place for parking and accessibility, a pure bottle neck down there.
Park in the city center and it's about a 2 Km walk.

True, but it's hardly the GAA fan's fault that it's there. They have to park, and that's totally cool, but you know ... bit of respect for where people live and all. Dropping rubbish, not on, and parking on double yellows at the entrance to housing estates so people who live there can't see oncoming traffic when trying to get to the shops, also not on.

While I agree with your point, the bolded bit is just incorrect. Many a time I've gone passed when Cork Con have a home game and the cars are parked in the estates, on the footpaths, on the grass verges, on corners and most certainly on double yellow lines!

Apologies, my brainfart was in full flow. I meant to refer specifically to the litter issue, not necessarily the parking, although, the parking behaviour is substantially worse on GAA games than it is on any other sporting occasion. We are given barriers by the Gards and cones, and on most sporting occasions they're respected and left in place. I can guarantee that on any GAA fixture, the barriers will be moved by one enterprising individual, and despite there being upwards of 20 Garda No Parking cones, there'll be every single space taken, and every green area rorn up. I know it sounds like I'm moaning and mostly exaggerating, but the problem genuinely is that bad, and I don't necessarily blame the fans, but the GAA need to provide ample parking/park and ride facilities for their matches, and maybe even perhaps put a couple of pages in the programme highlighting the litter/parking issues.
