Do you mean that you are 17 and he is your senior?

    Have you given lessons before?

If you have, treat him like anyone else...

If you are a qualified swimming instructor you are fine, just treat him like any other person, make sure you know what you are talking about and unlike with children, you can explain what you are doing in great detail.

I started teaching kids when i was 16 and then the pool i work at decided to get me to take a class of of adult lessons once i was 17. They were all 40+ mostly women. I found it fine just explain to him its a slow process.

Make sure you start super basic. Even more basic than you do with 5-6year olds. You'll need to show adults with fear how to stand up sometimes and they won't get the physics of the water.
