I looked for one recently and decided it wasn't worth it. Went with same garage I've used for years. No reason to use specialist.

I've never used them first hand but have heard good things about Auto-werks in Cork, your other option is George Dalton in Portlaoise. It's up to you to decide if the size of the job/peace of mind is worth travelling for.

What model, year and engine is your car? What work do you need done?

Slightly OT mini-rant time now. The term specialist is used a lot when it comes to garages, particularly VAG and BMW for some reason (you rarely hear of a Renault or Nissan specialist for example) But what does it actually mean? Very often it is a self appointed term which is pretty meaningless IMO. I was reading the sales blurb of a top end diagnostic equipment company recently which says that many garages invested in their VAG diagnostic package and "immediately set themselves up as a specialist in their area" This is utter BS as far as I am concerned. You have to earn the right to be a true specialist. It is about what you know and how you apply that knowledge, not what expensive gear you have bought. I know many so called specialists can't live up to their self imposed billing at all. Whereas many other good garages who don't choose to label themselves as a specialist could actually be a better bet from a customer's point of view.

George, just looking for someone who actually works with and know these cars.
Its a AZL engined A4, and regular mechanics who don't work with these often seem to not know much about the problem. I've been to three, and all different diagnoses.

Someone who know's these cars and drove it and looked at it would know straight away or with minimal effort anyway.

Main dealer would charge me an arm and a testicle for even having a look so **** that.

    Thanks
