Why don't you just wear wellingtons and pyjamas?

Well to be honest most people have a problems if you walk down the street wearing just a pair of runners.

A pair of Vans or Converse in good nick (not dirty), you'll get away with in most places. NO runners though.

Most places in Dublin are grand with runners provided they're not a pair of air max or something. A good general guide is if you wouldnt use them for sport they'll probably be ok (Unless your young/messy drunk in which case its a handy excuse to say no)

    That's your first mistake.

Why cant you just wear shoes , whats your problem with ones and twos?
I bet if you get refused you will spoil all your friends night by going from club to club getting refused and expecting them all to not go in because you couldnt be arsed putting shoes on .

Pretty odd that you've created a high-tops/shoes dichotomy. Converse, Vans, Classic Adidas, anything like that is grand.

Shoes-only policies are for ****holes down the country where they play the national anthem at the end of the night.

Just my definition, shoes for me are type you'd wear to work. Can be cool depending on what you wear with, but I've never worn shoes out to a club, not yet anyway/

I like classic Adidas as well yeah as well. Not a big converse man personally.

I never understood this. Converse are far scruffier looking than most runners but they have no problem with them.

    Some Vans are nice though.

As long as runners are paired up with one of those green leprachaun hats and fake beards you should be fine.

Any establishment that would turn you away because of the shoes you're wearing is not worth your money anyway. Same goes for "Toilet guy" pubs/nightclubs.

LOL, where are you going that won't let runners in?

Unless you're on about tennis shoes or the like...

Personally I see nothing wrong with having a smart dress code when it comes to a night out. We're not talking about top hats and tails for crying out loud.

    Runners, screw 'em!

Actually no, best make it shoes to be on the safe side.

That whole 'screw 'em' thing may put a dampener on your night.

I'm from "down the country" and the only places I've heard the national anthem played at the end of the night are not the ones with the shoes only policy.

''You can't come in because you're not wearing shoes'' is just an excuse that bouncers will give you if they simply don't like the look of you or if they reckon that you could be a trouble maker.

You don't need a pair of leather shoes to look stylish. None of the decent clubs in Dublin require you to wear shoes, fact.

Pretty much all clubs have toilet guys at this stage, at least up my neck of the woods.

Whatever you don't compromise your unique sense of individuality by leaving your smelly Converse at home and wearing evil, capitalist shoes.

The Man will have won, then.

Nope! I've never ever ever worn shoes and never been turned away because of it.

Maybe if you're a total scrote they'll use it as an excuse to turn you away, but I wouldn't worry about it otherwise! :D

Shoes with tracksuit bottoms are a no no . Explain this to the bouncer hell understand.

I think I've worn shoes about 3 times since my confirmation.

And that was 27 years ago...

Beware, if you wear shoes you'll feel the undeniable urge to hug a skyscraper and cheat some poor, honest Joe out of his cash so you can climb the corporate ladder where you'll light up cigars by burning €500 notes while selling houses that are barely liveable to families who have to work 900 hour shifts a day.

All while you laugh in your leather chair atop a gold-plated building.

Or you could just wear boots. Comfy as fook.

Great. Now you get to point out where exactly I said leather shoes. Your time starts...now!!!!

Runner's for most days but shoes for special and formal occasions yes.

Wear shoes if you are going out! Runner's looks tacky on a night out. A fella could get a way with it on a an ordinary night out but a big night like tomorrow night no and if the late pub/bar/club requires neat dress wear shoes!

I rarely wear runners on a night out or even at a pub never at a nightclub.
Generally wear shoes, boots, heels, sandals or pumps.
