"Name of Registered Solemniser" for marriage notification meeting

    Hi,

We are planning on just getting married in the registry office and have a meeting already booked for the required notification. Do we need to get the Solemniser sorted before the appointment for notification or do they sort that out at the meeting? As in do we just book the Solemniser at the notification meeting itself?

    Thanks for any help/advice.

If it is a registry office wedding in a registry office then yes you can just ring the reg office and book or book while you are there.

    Thanks

Hi Sarah - I saw your other thread also.
You'll find a list of registered solmenisers on the The General Register Office website here http://www.groireland.ie/getting_married.htm#section2

Apart from HSE employees they are all affiliated with a religion of one sort or another - so that includes spiritualists, but not non-religious/humanists. The only way you can have a purely civil/secular marriage is to use an HSE solmeniser. They are included in this list too but as far as I know can only be used as appointed by their roster.

    Hope this helps.

Unfortunately they cannot legally marry in Ireland ... They assure me they are working to get legislation changed :)
