One of the few remaining working Convair 440's crashed today in San Juan.
N153JR of Jet One Express made a forced landing into a lagoon close to San Juan Airport. There were no reports about any survivors. Shortly after take-off the pilots radioed a distress message reporting engine troubles and expressed their intention for an immediate landing return to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport. However, the pilots were unable to reach the airport and went down in a nearby lagoon, about 1 km east of the beginning of runways 26 and 28.
Here is a picture I took of it a couple of weeks ago on approach to San Juan.

The C-130 was lost just over the border into Sweden, very much in the wilderness and mountainous terrain. The search parties are proceeding on skis to the area.

This is what it looks like in the summer

All helicopters are grounded until the weather improves, hence the SAR parties going in on skis.

The aircraft was flying as part of the Cold Response exercise
