I saw a large helicopter flying above waterford today, looked like the S-92 but it was in cloud so couldnt fully see. It looked to painted white and blue in similar pattern to the above picture.
    Possibly that no?

R117 on its way for a flyby down Wexford town's quays at 2.30pm. She's sitting across the river from me as I speak (see Photograph thread). The S92 also did a flyby at 3.00pm.

EI-ICG landed at Dublin approx 20 minutes ago.

They're getting around today. Just had one (EI-MES) thundering low over Athlone. First time to see one close up - they are big and loud!

Fairly epic watching R117 around Wexford today, it was an experience being so close to one on takeoff. Nice to see S92 around too.

Change of plan, two flybys today, the first at Dunmore East at 3pm followed by an exercise with the local RNLI for their open day then Wexford at 4-4.30.

I think the Helicopter people saw in east cork and Waterford
Could be secret service. Bill Clinton was visiting the area and I heard the secret service were scoping our the area

Former President Clinton has visited Ireland many times since his term of office ended and while there is undoubtedly a security detail assigned to him there is zero evidence of "secret service" using helicopters on any of his visits.

What you heard sounds like ill-informed speculation to me.

And tragically it had to be used in Wexford up at the quarry in Barntown to airlift a guy to hospital, other 18 yr old died. RIP.

Just goes to show how important these coast guard guys are, one minute it's a fly-by next it's a life saving exercise for real.

Definitely. I often go flying with a friend down in Waterford, and knowing that they're there really gives you peace of mind because you know if anything happens out over the water or in an awkward place they will be there within minutes! Im sure most of you have seen the footage of them saving the pilot of the wexford coast a few years back.

A highly valuable asset to the entire south east area.
