I have a lot of downtime in my job and I'm just so bored. I spend a lot of it on boards, reading newspapers and Facebook, but it's just got to the point where I feel like I'm forgetting how to use my brain.

How can I spend this time productivly? I need some stimulation please advise!

If you're female, set up a sex cam and fap. If you're male, do some more work.

newspaper/crossword, cup of tea. don't know if that falls under the category of productivity but it's what I do when my work is done.

edit: just read newspaper. Clean your desk/office space/ factory line whatever itis

That sounds like you have some kind of phobia which stops you enjoying a nice public fap, have you considerd getting medical help with this?

Nah, I like to save myself up for when I go home to my lonely bedsit, turn off the lights, get under the covers and just fap the sh!t out of myself. If I do it in public at work I'll just be ruining the one special thing I have.

I do the odd quiz, but I need more! I've started to eat which is making me fat too :o

I need to look like I'm doing work though! And I have asked for more work, but there's only so much they can give me and it doesn't take very long to do!

Fair play to you! Angry birds is a hard, hard game. It must be even tougher when you're holding a placard in one hand.

I use Boards to rest my brain from work, which is grand but I can see your point. Just look up some IQ or mensa testing sites and that should give your brain a work out.

Nah, I'm private sector. Unlike the public sector, I get paid less than I should.

Sleep on work time, I advise staying up really late and basically using your down time in work to nap.....I recommend investing in a work pillow. They are not expensive and naps with your head right on the desk can lead to some nasty marks on your face.

Is there anything in your workplace that needs improvement? Some long term project you can chip away at when you've finished your day to day work? Might provide more of a challenge for you as it's not just batting away work items.

Aside from that I'd suggest learning something new (as someone else already said) or planning a holiday or something!

I had a job once where the shifts were 12 hours long and you'd only have to do something for maybe an hour or two. I used the time to relearn French.

You mean to say this isn't what people normally do in the office?

"confab" sounds like like a prison labour camp for making electrical components.

Im on my uni placement at the minute and I probably do half a days work in a week and manage to get glowing reviews from my boss and the people from uni who have interviewed me (The working world is easy).

    As for boredom:

    1. Throw things at people in your office
    2. Phone other people in the company and annoy them e.g. Order Domino's when they answer
    3. Watch Movies
    4. Buy things online
    5. Read a book, Kindle and a leather cover, people dont know what it is, for all they know its an Ipad and your working
    6. Youtube

All I can think of for now

Was thinking about this and have been looking into it. I don't see my job as a long term thing though. Contact is up in Oct and I am outta here!! I'll just keep on pluggin away with Sporcle so. My geography could do with some more improvement.

Get hammered the weekend, spend spare time at work trying to remember what happened / cringing in embarrassment. This is productive because... ... It promotes balance and psychological good health. Alternatively, fantasy world of art and imagination. Productive because... ... It betters yourself as a person and helps you think creatively and innovatively. Yes.
