Get her a card, and give her a hug :)

not something I can do, so I'd suggest you do

Card and then when I go home for a while on my Easter holidays from college going to take her out for lunch. I reckon something decent at a later date is better than some crap voucher or some such on the day.

I'm in Canada but having a bouquet of cakes delivered to her Sunday.

Flowers wilt and die, cake stays on the hips forever :D

I thought about getting her something but then decided i'm not going to bother.

    It's the thought that counts!

Was thinking this myself, a voucher for a restaurant dinner sounds good. Do they do them though?

Just give her the card and tell her you've made the reservation for dinner whenever, be hard to get in anywhere at this stage of the game on mothers day.

As stupidusername said, the main this is a nice big hug and tell her how much you love her, better than any present you can get her. Unfortunately this is my first Mother's Day without my mam, so trust me when I say, make her feel special, she won't be there forever.

My Ma would give me a slap if I got her a present for Mothers Day as she thinks it's a pile of crap.

Myself and siblings always make sure we ring home and have an auld chat with her though.

Obviously a card for starters but I'm not sure what to get her as a present

A bouquet of cakes sounds like something I would like but, unfortunately, I don't think my Mum would like it as much :(

I have no idea what to get her. :(

Maybe you should ask not what you can get for her, but what you can do for her!

I'd give anything if my kids looked around and decided to wash the windows, clean the doors, architraving and skirting boards and other horrible tasks like that rather than getting me anything. Not everybody is a houselettergoer like me though so maybe that wouldn't work for her. :D

I'm going to buy myself a bucket of cakes.....:P

There's no sons day so she aint getting ****. And if there were a sons day im sure we could come to an arrangement where i get her nothing and she gets me nothing just like we do for Birthdays and xmas.

I said this to my Mother and she told me the other 364 days is sons day.

Thanks OP mothers day is on a different day here in Australia and I had no idea it was on this Sunday! ;)

I have heard that line before :pac:

My mammy is great. She sends me parcels to Canada every 2 weeks and Skypes me loads to tell me she misses me. Even though I'm all grown up now she still takes care of me. And she never once has asked for a Mothers Day present. Always insists we get her nothing and then acts surprised when we do. She deserves lots of good things and I wish I could give her more than cakes she will give out about cause I have ruined her diet, bit I know she will love.

    I miss my mammy :(

I feel your pain, even after 7 years.

However, my kids have told me they're not going to let me do a thing this Mother's Day - that remains to be seen!

Nothing. Not even a phone call.

The woman would give Tony Sopranos mother a run for the misery trophy, Ive no intentions of hearing it down the phone.

    Scenario A:

You buy a Mothers Day card.

"Why did ye buy that? It's only a waste of money"

    Scenario B:

You buy no card but buy dinner.

"And ye wouldn't even get me a card!"

We all clubbed in and got her new glasses, she's been in bits trying to read her books lately so she was thrilled with them. I'll probably get her a new book and some flowers too.

Last year we got her new blinds for the house :pac:

All the more reason to get her somethinG. My ex said she wasn't bothered about Valentine's Day so I didn't bother....hence she's my ex :D

Just some small things that she likes, some nice vanilla candles, a box of Black Magic and a pretty scarf.:)

Season 1 of the Wire. She's gone mad for Mad Men, Homeland and Boss so I reckon I'm safe there. My ma is deadly.

Mammy is on Oz, they don't celebrate Mother's Day until later in the year, but I personalised a card on funkypigeon.com (cue that annoying yet catchy tune in your head) with pictures of us and a nice message to send to her, as she gets lonely over there sometimes.

Ah Jesus, go on outta that. Mother's Day is all about cheap, tacky sentiment, not taking the pi$$. Cleaning the doors? Washing the windows? I don't even know what architraving something means...????

Have your home-made card and like it, woman!! ;)
