For anyone interested in Titanic story this is the best screen adaptation of it hands down:

Great film, informed by survivor accounts, most of the crew (officer Lightoller in particular and perhaps why Lightoller is Kenneth More and a starring role) and a lot of survivors were alive still in the 50s...anything afterwards is poor generally as the ship story goes.

And yet in A Night to Remember, the ship didn't break in half since there was conflicting testimonies to whether it did or not..

You might be joking but there is a Titanic 2, its an awful piece of "straight to video" crap!

    "Never let go Jack...

.. J/K, get the feck off my door!!
    "

Ah no, I'll give it a watch.. though it's been a long time since I enjoyed a drama from ITV.

There is a second drama series about the Titanic airing this year also. 'Titanic: Blood and Steel' will focus on the building of the ship in Belfast.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1695366/?mode=desktop

It was filmed in Dublin btw.

Do we have to use spoiler tags in case somebody doesn't know what happens in the end?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭iguana

I was quite looking forward to this but the trailer does nothing for me.

About a year ago I heard about a big budget Titanic TV series. A joint venture between UK and US and Irish TV stations.... I was hoping for a BBC/HBO series..... Then I saw the trailer and saw that something was SERIOUSLY wrong. Instead of an RTE (when-they-put-the-money-into-their-prestige-shows)/BBC/HBO show, we get TV3 and, well, I was going to say ITV but.... Instead we get a TV3 show. Think I'll give it a miss. Looks AWFUL.......

Edit. Actually, now I look at it, it may be that Titanic:Blood and Steel I had heard about.

What a missed opportunity. God I'd love to see the whole "Band Of Brothers"/"From The Earth To The Moon" group make a series. WHY wasn't Tom Hanks in James Cameron's Titanic? :)

I'm enjoying it. But only because I'm completely obsessed with anything Titanic.

Otherwise, it's a bit of a mish mash. We're being introduced to a huge amount of characters.

Ah I got confused, thought this was the one filmed in Dublin.
Will watch it anyhow but not riveting so far

The music is dreary compared to James Horner's Titanic soundtrack.

It's terrible drivel at the moment. Characters are uninteresting and unengaging.

With the ship about to sink I wonder what ep 2-4 will cover???

And where's the sense that the ship is sinking?

Yeah no feeling of realism.. I've had to tilt the TV to a 35 degree (and progressing) angle and splash some water on the screen..

I was expecting, and hoping for, a lot more, but still, we'll give it a chance..... :) Huge task to even come close to the movie. I am also wondering how the hell they are going to fill 3 more episodes!

Hello all! howya's this evening!? I'm kinda dipping in a out of this so can't make an honest judgment on it tonight, but looks like no expense spared love the costumes!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,374 ✭✭✭twirlagig

The preview for next episode looks like bits of it should have been in tonights one! Hope its not going to be flashing back & forward.... :(
Was really looking forward to this series too :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,585 ✭✭✭✭Lady Chatterton

It is almost like TV3 played the wrong episode this evening. I would have thought that the ship wouldn't be sinking until episode three.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,239 ✭✭✭✭KeithAFC

Completely unrealistic, dull, uninspiring and generally, a complete joke of a show more than anything even resembling a serious show on a serious matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Don't see what was wrong with it. I thought it was OK. Awful lot of whingeing in this thread.
