Phonewatch query prior to switching to UPC

Thinking of switching from Vodafone for home broadband and phone to UPC. Due to renovation work on the house we upgraded to GSM phonewatch last year from a wired system (no one mentioned the possibility of jamming at the time but that’s for another post). In the move to UPC we would like to keep our existing phone number. That’s not a problem with phone/broadband as the number will port. However, I’m not sure if the number is in someway linked to this GSM phonewatch. Is phone number used by phonewatch to identify the house or does phonewatch have a built in SIM?
    Thanks

The GSM unit has its own SIM. Its totally independent of the landline,.
You could connect your alarm to your UPC line, however Eircom will tell you it won't work. Theres lots of posts on boards that prove it does.

Thanks Koolkid. I've seen your other posts regarding connecting to UPC but for me it's a case of one step at a time. If I can get the move to UPC up and running in the next few weeks I'll be happy. Then I can start investigating how to do shift the alarm too.

Well its not going to affect the GSM. If you had Eircom lines previously you could probably patch UPC line into them handy enough.

Your account code is used to identify the house in the monitoring station.
If like so many others here you just connect the line to your system and send in the signals they will receive them.
