Best free battery saver app (without push email interference)

Anyone know what's the best battery saver app for Android. Juice Defender? Voltage Controller? Do all these apps interfere with push email features of gmail. I'm looking for one that preferably doesn't do this. Thanks.

the main thing using your battery on your phone will be things like push notifications and your screen. by disabling push notifications you are increasing battery life, even without the app. most apps you buy can be configured (at least in the pro versions) to only turn off data at certain times (for example at night when in bed, etc)>
