Trying to hang in there!

I broke the rear derailleur hanger on focus cayo 2009.
Far from being a major issue I have discovered thats what this piece is designed to do (break so my rear mech doesnt).

All was well and I brough the bike to my LBS thinking it would be a straight forward replacement job and while the bike was there they could fix whatever caused it to happen.

Anyway they couldnt match the part and so I went back to Wiggle to buy a replacement but they have sent me a mail to say the manufacturer no longer makes them and so tough luck.
They sent me two links to other online stores but having contacted them they dont have what I need.

I found this site online which is an american site but its limited on details and I just dont know if I trust them at all http://derailleurhanger.com/ and Im not sure if they have the right part either. :(

So im hoping some of the wiser heads here might have some help for me either in naming a store that would be able to assist me in replacing this piece or even by telling me of an EU based site that might stock the part.

a friend of mine bought a couple of hangers off that website and they were fine. I'd recommend buying two in case it happens again though.

I have managed to get replacement rear mech hangers from CRC before by just matching the picture on the site to the broken hanger. Worked out for me on two occaisions where I was unable to get the manufactuers own part.

This is a classic case of what should be a simple job turning into a nightmare. There are literally hundreds of hanger variants out there so whatever u do do it carefully and don't make assumptions or allow a third party to do so on your behalf unless they know exactly what thwy are talking about.

Cheers this is the problem im facing, trying to match hangers now with pictures taken at angles, on the net is very tough.

Surprised Wiggle/Focus have discontinued this piece and the similiar looking piece for the 2011 cayo already. Surely they expect the bikes to be in use for more than 2/3 years.

I actually looked at that site but for some reason once i seen the name raleigh I lost interest

Just rang them and they said drop into their store and they can physically compare to what they have and if they cant help instore to call again.
Im delighted hopefully i can get this piece and the bike back working in less than a week.

So if this works i'll be back to create thousands of new users so I can thank your post and it will be post of the day (joking)

Just a quick aside ednwireland, did you get a spare with the bike or have you previously bought spares?
If spares came with the bike Im sure I put them away in a safe place (Then I just have to remember what safe places i was using in 2009)

    Hi RobbieTheRobber.

Did you ever get sorted with the hanger and if so from where?

I have the 09 Cayo also, and although I don't need a hanger at the moment, I would like to obtain a spare or two if they are available. Thanks
