    Hi Folks,

    Sorry for the long post...
Just moved into a house, and looking to install an out side light at the back door.
There are cables hanging from the wall (outside) and a switch on the wall inside.
The switch is 2 gang 2 way.
Opened the switch box and found 1 switch used for two way operation of the kitchen light as expected.
The other switch has nothing connected, there are two unconnected cores in the box which i confirmed, (ohm'd), are the other ends of the cores running to the outside.
I presume I could link the 'Live' from one switch to the other?
But where do I get the neutral from?

    Thanks in advance.

    hard to tell without pictures

t+e loop to switches is common-in which case there'd be a neutral in the box

    Agree
    Hard to tell without pics
Have you stripped the cables outside
    If so,what colors there
Have you stripped the cables in the switch box
    If so ,what colors there

Perhaps you have a feed and switchwire at the switch(the 2 wires you found)
Maybe there is a neutral connection if there is a switch back to back

Most likely there already is a neutral at the outside light though

    Pics will help

Thanks, I tried to take some photos

ss851565 and insidebox show the back of the switch and the two unconnected cables.
Cable1 shows the first of outside 'cables' it has one red covered and a bare (earth?)
Cable 2 shows the second outside cable, it is just a black covered core.
Insidebox2 shows the two unconnected cores, each of which will ohm out with the cores shown in cable1 and cable2 photos.

    I hope this makes sense!

    Ok, update.
I connected one of the unconnected to L1 and reconnected the other to COM, where it had been before I disconnected it to take photos :o
    I now have mains outside.

Thanks to everyone for their advice.
