New Model Ford Focus - seat covers

I bought seat covers for a new model ford focus, but where you could take the seat out in previous versions, or could find places to secure the seat covers, the seats in the new focus don't appear to be as compliant. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you sort it ? Thanks

    Eh, why?

To protect the upholstery so that when you sell it, the next buyer can take them off and enjoy the proper seats?

Why not let the next buyer get the seat covers?

Good question ! The answer is, we have a 5 year old !

We had to get the last car valeted to get rid of the stains caused by himself, so we thought it would be a better idea to get car seats to protect them as much as possible. As well as that the leatherette car seats look excellent when they are fitted properly.

So, you bought a new Ford, and are prepared to give enjoyment of it's interior to the NEXT owner.......but not yourself ? That's daft that is.....

One reason why, btw, buying the car with leather in the first place would've been a good idea. Leather easier to keep than cloth imho.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    In a 96 Carina they do :)

You need to check it's not fitted with side airbags in the seat, looking at their website I think it is, if so fitting seat covers is NOT a good plan.

....or, don't let the child have anything that he can spill in the car.

What IS daft would be to buy a car that we will be changing again next year (I have the Ford docket). There's no point lashing out that sort of money if you intend changing the car every year. I'm not gone on the cloth material myself so well secured leatherette is a more than acceptable compromise for me.

It would be easier to ban the child from the car ..... hmmm, now there's a thought !

I can't understand that few sentences at all :)
Any chance of explaining what exactly you're saying?

OK, load of nonsense being talked here.
The OP wants to keep the interior of his car as clean as possible, be that for later use or for selling on.
Since I have a filthy job and dogs I can fully understand that.
    Airbags:
Most seat covers allow for them and are in fact designed to tear open in the right places, so airbags not a problem. Just make sure they state they are compliant and have an airbag logo on them. Mine do.
I bought my covers in LIDL and, just like the OP, found them to be a monumental pain to fit them to Focus type 2 seats.
In the end I had to resort to some butchery (of the seat covers, not the seat), a bit of twine and some heavy duty cable ties.
It was not possible to fit them to the rear seats, since they can move independently from each other and the cover is made for a solid bench type.
But nevermind, since the front ones get most of the abuse anyway.
And get a carpet shampoo machine, because seat covers cannot prevent every spill and a lot of sh*te will soak right through them.

Thanks, dr.fuzzenstein. That's good to know you had the same problem with the back seats (unfortunately that's where our issue is). I've been on to my main dealer and they said that I can get seat covers to fit. They're supposed to come back with a price, but since it's probably an official Ford product, it could cost a lot more than the €45 I paid for my current ones.
