Bus Diversions for Merrion Square

as you mention the 25a/b doesn't use Merrion square west so I don't see why they would need to divert

given the inclusion on the first list and exclusion on the second, it seems to be an error and simply lumping in the 25s with the other west buses like 66 and 67

Not very prominently displayed on the Dublin Bus website it says Merrion Square west will be closed from Tuesday 13th at 22:00 (ie late yesterday) until Tuesday 20th at 23:00 affecting some bus routes

However my bus this morning (25a) went the normal route without a diversion - which begs the question, will I be able to get my bus home as normal this evening?

You'd also think the 25A/B might get a mention on this page too
    http://dublinbus.ie/en/News-Centre/Travel-News/St-Patricks-Festival-/St-Patricks-5k-Road-Race/

Firstly, there is a large green box on the homepage of the website entitled "Diversions for St Patrick's Festival 2012" in bold type - I am not sure how much more prominent they could be?

Secondly the diversions that you are referring to are under another heading halfway through the notice:

"The Big Day Out & Funfair at Merrion Square South, East, West and Upper Merrion Street from 10:00hrs 18th March to 19:00hrs 18th March"

Therefore they only apply on Sunday March 18th.

So no diversions to the 25/a/b this week.

Fair point on the Road Race though.

Have they made any arrangements for Buses to stop along their rerouted sections? Last year some drivers were not stopping at any stops from the beginning to the end of the diversion (in some cases from SCR to NCR), whereas other drivers stopped at every.single.pole.

One would expect that they would stop at stops along the diversionary route - not stopping from NCR to SCR would be utterly daft.

I very much doubt that "they" have.

Just as with Numbering the Fare Stages, all it would take is a few appropriate signs and some Managerial type with enough interest and motivation to get it done.

I,however, would be expecting the usual chaos to prevail.

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

To be fair Alek, St Patrick's Day generally works out ok and in line with the diversionary notices.

This is hardly the same as the situation when the Queen/President Obama were here when the Gardai just unilaterally closed roads causing the agreed diversions with Dublin Bus to be null and void.

The scale of the notices is far better than before, with outlying areas included.

I think Dublin Bus mad some bad mistakes regarding service levels over the weekend.
On Saturday I saw a number of people queueing waiting for buses a long time before the Sunday schedule would kick in.
Today, a full (bar xpressos) service is running, and they are carrying air!
I believe a Saturday service today & on St Patricks day would have been more appropriate.

I think that is definitely a first for the company. My local route the 114 has never run on a Bank Holiday Monday. It usually runs a Sunday Timetable on days like today.

Does the UK have the same system?
