I was out of work for a while, recently started a new job that is badly paid but better than the sofa and loose women.
    My income is 30,000
My wife is unemployed (studying in private college) so she isn't receiving and social welfare.
I'm paying aprox €80 per week in prsi, paye and USC.
I have asked the revenue for her tax credits which they say I have.
So to anyone in the know.....does this seem correct????

As you started work after Jan 1 and your tax credits depend on things like children/ no children, possible adjustments to tax credits for prior years or welfare payments etc it's hard to give you an accurate answer. You can download my tax calculator to see if it helps.
Under the charter rules, I can't provide a direct link to my tax calculator but it's downloadable in my signature below. Have a go at that and see if it tallies with your payslip calculations.

Have you received a tax credit cert for 2012 showing how the credits and rate band are split? As far as I am aware, being married has no impact on your PRSI or USC.

The links below will assist you with working out your PAYE. You might also want to check out the USC link. PRSI rates are available on the DSP website.
