Library work experience

I'm just about to finish a B.A. in English and History and am (very realistically) assuming that I'm going to find it impossible to find a job once I finish. I was hoping to do a postgrad in archive or library studies and thanks to the budget cutting the grant I'll be waiting a year. That's not too bad though because most library/archive courses require at least 6 weeks full-time work experience in a library.

Looking on Jobbridge, there's no relevant internships or work experience being offered anywhere near my part of the country (I live in Cork) so I was wondering, if I somehow manage to get work experience with a library that's not listed on the Jobbridge internship scheme, could I still receive this benefit? I highly doubt anyone is going to hire a green college graduate with almost no work experience to be a library assistant so I'm assuming the dole plus work experience will be the only way I can survive. Also, would any of ye lovely people know any libraries that would take on graduates for such experience?

    Thank you :)

This might have suited....but it was in Galway and closing date has passed.

But you might check the contact details on this website and call them directly for more information.
