Anyone got any tips for this before I take it to a repair shop?

The phone is 2 years old or so so it's old. Do these batteries evantual diminish and need to replaced?

This has happened overnight and not gradually though.

    Thanks to anyone who replies.

The battery will unfortunately deteriorate over time, but you're correct that this shouldn't just happen overnight.

A simple reboot might fix it (i.e. switch it off and on again).
