Rosslare/Dublin train hits horses (7/3/2012)

Judgement Day

Unless I missed the thread, this incident seems to have slipped under the radar. Nine horses were killed at Edermine (nr.Enniscorthy) on the 7th March, when the 05.35 from Rosslare Harbour (a 2700 or 2900 unit ?) ploughed into them. None of the crew or seven passengers on the train were injured but they were trapped on the train for two hours before being taken off and guided back to the nearby LC. The train was damaged but eventually proceeded to Enniscorthy at walking pace. Needless to say the unfortunate horses were not thoroughbreds. :rolleyes:

On a more serious note a 9 year old girl was hit by a Limerick Junction to Waterford train with just 8 passengers on board after she wandered on to the tracks last Monday.

I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

Took the Indian Pacific from Adelaide to Perth a few years back, the train hit a pack cattle along the route, the horrible part of it was hearing the bones bashing off the underside of the carriages, train didn't even stop, there was no damage done to the indestructible GM loco.

thankfully all ok but parents need to be question about their responsibility.

Stick her in a harness and put mittens on her hands so she cant grip onto walls etc

I must admit that wasn't my reaction as a new dad of a 6 month old.

I read "7ft fence" and "autistic" and thought "hope I never have their challenges"
