Hello all I have never played a instrument in my life but I would like to get a Travel Guitar...

Travel guitar 3/4 Electric Acoustic I like to travel and don't a full size to be honest.

My question is are they worth getting and do they really sound the same as a full size guitar ?

A person in work that plays music said that they have problems with tuning ?

    Is this true ?

If anyone could offer me advance that would be great thank you....

Here is a ruff idea of what I would like... http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/search.asp?search=travel+guitar

Personally i love a smaller body guitar, Parlour, 00 Type etc
They wont be as loud as a jumbo but can hold their own in most cases
But you need to go & play them as they differ in tone feel so much
I went up to x music one sunday morning & basically had the acoustic room to myself. I tried everything in the place & picked the one that suited me best

For me it was a tanglewood tw40o an
I felt it outplayed a lot of the cheapest martins & taylors etc

worth a try & a thoroughly enjoyable morning

I've been on the lookout for something small I can throw in the van for weekends away during the summer.
The best I've found so far is a Crafter TRV-23 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4EcCUwVpT0

It seems well built, solid spruce top, dovetail joint, nice tuners, nice inlays etc.(and the guy in the shop said it had solid mahogany back and sides but I don't believe that's true for the price)
Also the back is curved which will make it sound a bit bigger.
I don't know why there's a cutaway, but whatever. I think there's another model with a pickup in it maybe.

If you haven't played one of these small guitars before and are used to a larger accoustic you might be a bit surprised.
I thought they sounded tiny at first, not bad or anything, just small. It's not going to sound like a dreadnought, that's for sure. I guess you need to play them to hear it for yourself, after the initial surprise they sound fine.

Still, it's small, functional, fun and still quite decent. The price isn't bad either, €225 with a bag in a local shop.

The reviews online are good too, but I've stopped having too much faith in online reviews after seeing people rave about the Marshall 100 MG DFX

Edit: Made in Korea, if that matters (shouldn't really). Also the action was a tad high, probably has to be on those small guitars, but apparently there are shims under the saddle that can be removed to lower the action.

I owned a Martin backpacker but found the shape really awkward so moved it on. Replaced it with a Cort Mini Earth and could not be happier. Cheap enough at 250 euro, big sound, easy to travel with and comes with an excellent padded gig bag.
