First you need to read this thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055222596

A1: Doesn't matter that you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch so just get stuck in and you will get to know people

A2: Lots of good sites around, key factors are your location, do you have transport & what sort of gaming are you looking for. If you can you should travel around various sites until you find one you like the look/feel of & enjoy the game scenarios. I can recommend Red Barn & Hilltop from personal experience, I have also heard good things about Bellurgan, Tigerland & Fingal. Another site worth the trip if Predator up North.

A3: Forget teams for the moment. Play at different sites and you will get to know the various teams. After a while I would expect you to have a good idea of what teams you like to play with because of their loadout, tactics, HONOUR, if they get to know you they may ask you to join. You really don't need to be in a team to play/enjoy airsoft and before you joing any team you need to be 100% sure you're joing the right team for you.

A4: Wear whatever is comfortable & safe. Generic DPM-type camo is cheap-as-chips and readily available, as you play more you will see camo patterns that you like or you may join a team who have a specific team camo that you will need ot wear, but for now stick to plain old OD or DPM and you won't go far wrong. Don't go nuts on tactical gear, as you play you will work out what works for you and what doesn't.

1.) If you do not know anyone, arrive with open body language and introduce yourself to people. If you are nervous, and don't know what to say, one of the easiest ways to get an airsofter to open up is to ask questions about their gear. WARNING: It may be difficult to shut said airsofter up after verbally admiring his/her gear.

2.) Site wise, it's all personal and down to what you enjoy. What I like and what you like could be two completely different things. Pick one local to you, and try it out. If it's not what you are looking for, then move further afield until you find the right sight for you :) But yeah, I definitely strongly recommend getting out to as many sites as possible

3.) Airsoft Teams exist, but so do individual players. Some people love the idea of teams, others do not. It's all individual. They are not an integral part of airsoft, and have no bearing on the game. The vast majority of times Airsoft teams are collections of like-minded people, whom decided to name the group of ragamuffins they play with.

4.) What do you wear? Most people will be wearing clothes...so that's a start :P In all sincerity, go minimalist to start. My ethos is find a need for something before buying it...tends to save on the waste, at least a little. A pair of combat trousers in a camouflage pattern you like, warm top and maybe a camouflage jacket/shirt over - if you want/need a vest for your gear (mags etc) then by all means get/wear one, but as I've said before...it's all individual.

Relax. We were all beginners once, and most of us will remember that so on the whole we're pretty approachable people. Don't worry, just be open to talk to people and you will have a great day :)

Definitely take Kev's advice on this one. If someone had mentioned this to me when I started, my wallet wouldn't be gathering dust. :D
