Sony MEX-BT3900U Bluetooth connectivity problems with Nokia 5230

I have just installed a Sony MEX-BT3900U Bluetooth Car Radio for use with my Nokia 5230 phone. Installed on the phone are OVI Maps which I used very successfully on an Aldi Tevion Radio which as we all know is very cheap. However, having installed the new Sony MEX-BT3900U, I can't receive voice instructions for the maps. The radio is connected via Bluetooth because I can receive and make calls muting the radio as I do. I can also use phones media player and if I receive a call while listening to music, it mutes the player and I can take the call. I spent 25 minutes today on to Nokia support and they were unable to help and passed me on to Sony. They are suggesting that the radio isn't compatible with the Map function. Yet, when I connected for the first time today, it did connect allbeit with broken dialogue, ie, audio drop out. Something else that makes me think that this device it totally compatible. I went to make a call on the phone in the car and instead of ringing out it slipped into map mode giving me directions for my next road junction.

    Any suggestions?
