How do you know if there is a right of election for an offence?

Some statutes explicitly state it (like the 2001 Act), but how do you tell if the Act is silent on the matter?

Subject to correction by someone more experienced in criminal law but I think there is a right of election for offences scheduled in the criminal justice act 1951
