Audio Conferencing Ideas

    Hi guys,

Looking for a few ideas if anyone out there has a creative mind!

I have colleagues based all over Ireland & Uk and so a lot of meetings are conducted over the phone or audio conferencing while at my desk. My floor is open plan so it can get noisy which is very off putting, and also some people insist on coming over and talking to you even when wearing your headset as it's not seen as a "real" meeting.

We've been tasked with coming up with ideas to alert people you are on an important call - either as a warning not to speak to you or to keep the noise level down around people's desks e.g. a little flag you can pop up the side of your computer.

It goes without saying that the cost needs to be minimal (if not free!) so if anyone can think of any it'd be a great help!

    Thanks!

    1. Get a money box that you place on top of our monitor when you are on a call.
If anyone interrupts you while you are on the call they have to put a euro in the box.
donate the box to charity at the end of the year.

    2. If your co-workers are stingy, buy a water pistol. If they interrupt you on the call spray them

    3. If you aren't allow drown your co-workers get a bright red piece of card and write on-call in huge letters and place it in a prominent position where everyone can see it.

    For private time:

I use several Laminated A4 Sheets, Each with a different message.

Attached to the back of my chair with VELCRO.
    • Conference Call - Hosting - Do Not Interrupt.
    • Conference Call - Participating - Do Not Interrupt.
    • Conference Call - Listening on Mute - Available.
    • Creative Time - Interrupt only for Priority Tasks. (When getting brain -work done)
    • Blocking out the World Available. (When Listening to Music)

One of my Co-Workers uses a small "White-Board" and Markers and is very specific flagging the name of the meeting and his status on the wall beside his desk.

You can also use your PC display to communicate such messages.
