    Hi folks

    I have a 2003 mazda 6 1.8 petrol with 107000 miles on the clock.

In the last couple of weeks it has started missing and sometimes backfiring under accelleration at low revs (less than 2500rpm). This happened to me before in another car and it was a plug lead breaking down. So i bit the bullet and got new leads and plugs but there is no change whatsoever.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks

Plug leads breaking down and the corona effect from that will have damaged the plugs.

Change leads and plugs for genuine Ford or Mazda.

Is it a DIY job ? And would it give these kind of symptoms ?

Get it scanned and see, if its a misfire well then it could be the coil. 2 minute job DIY.
