    Read it in Ww.

    http://www.rad-net.de/html/bdr/bekanntm ... s-2012.pdf

    - shoe covers to be banned from October 2012
    - clothing must be open mesh textile
    - no taping of bolt holes other than on a disk
    - forearm must be horizontal in aero position
    - hands must be on the ends of the extensions in aero position

That's going to be either a cold or illegal winter training next year :-)

I'm going to continue to wear my 15 year old mucky bbb ones so. It'll be my 2 fingers to 'the man' at the uci.

on a possibly off topic note, I presume that when racing under a cycling ireland licence, you are bound by uci rules and regulations?

It's actually only prohibited for indoor tracks so not that of a big deal. UCI gets more and more ridiculous though. And nothing for the 6.8kg limits. Bikes can get so much lighter so much easier these days but they keep fixing things that arent broken.

    Yes

They've been talking about banning overshoes on indoor tracks for some time. The argument is simple - your "clothing" should serve a purpose other than to simply make you go faster. I don't think there's any argument on this one tbh, and we still get to wear them at Sundrive;)

so why not ban aero helmets then?

Because they serve the purpose of protecting the head.

The issue is how do you then define what is aero and what is not?

Overshoes will be allowed on outdoor tracks because, at least in principle, they provide some warmth. However there will be nothing to stop riders using the flimsiest most aero overshoes available on outdoor tracks in scorching temperatures
