Paying the TUI Annual Fee....

So since I've got 12 weeks in a school, I thought it best to look into joining the prevelant union of the school, which is TUI.

I got the forms out which let them take my fee out of my paychecks and was wondering what way it worked; obviously there's the set fee I have to pay of €180ish if I remember right. Thing is, I've only definitely got three months in the school. So what happens, for example, if I don't get taken back into the school come September, and I only have the three paydays between now and the end of the year? Do I get a letter at the end of the year asking me to pay up the rest of the fee? If I do, for example, a day's subwork in all of next September, do they take a bigger chunk of the fee out of that payslip to cover missed paydays?

    Is there a sub-rate?

You should address all your questions to your local TUI Branch Secretary or Treasurer.

Deduction at source was not the option you should have taken for such a short time. Can you contact your VEC and stop it?

    As in for sub-teachers? I don't know but I'm not really a sub-teacher; I've got 12 hours a week over 5 days a week, so clicked on part-time rate.

Well I've not sent the completed forms back to them yet. I've got the Deduction At Source Authorisation Form sitting here in front of me so I'd imagine there's still time to change things

Get your school rep to ring the Branch Treasurer or Secretary tomorrow and see what they will charge you for the last few weeks. It would be a bit much to have to pay the full lash for a quarter year's membership.
