    Not it's not.

Raspberry Pi is a project/toy for techies and eventually a tool for students.

Its a poor all-round media player, hardware decode is very limited and CPU is too weak to allow software decode of most unsupported formats.

It's really not, you should read up on it

Im fully aware of the media capabilities and I've given a reason why it is a poor all-round media player. Limited hardware decode.

You havent refuted my point or given any reason to the contrary. Which suggests you know very little about it, maybe you should take your own advice.
    oh dear you uneducated man.

Another great post with nothing to back it up.

You should be 'bothered enough' because it's basic forum etiquette.

If you think what I said was wrong, that's fine, post why. If all you have to offer is a one-line smart-arsed insult then it reeks of trolling.

Or just use it as a streaming box, probably controlled by your smartphone.

For those that are interested, this media player allows the media player part to be detached from the harddrive. More portable if you dont want the 2TB on the side (for whatever reason)

so it's just that you could leave a wireless external hdd connected to your pc and use that wirelessly?

Good price for a 2tb media player no doubt but its another example of seagates ongoing form over function policy when it comes to external harddrives. Desktop drive in a plastic box with rubbish ventilation, how will it cool, especially as a media device where its often going to be in a cabinet. Keep an eye on drive temperatures and don't rely on this to keep valuable files.
