Big Mistake Ladbrokes

Ladbrokes did a Cheltenham preview night in the South East recently and offered 18/1 the Big 4 to retain their titles.
You had to bring a piece of paper with a Ladbrokes stamp on it into a Ladbrokes shop the following day to have the bet to a Max Stake of 100.
The rumours about Kauto Star started overnight and Ladbrokes stated they would only offer 10/1 on the accum when people tried to back it the following morning.
There was nothing about any price changes on it and the first chance anybody had of backing the accum was the following morning in a shop as they wouldn't be allowed take bets in the Hotel it was held in.
Kauto Star now looks like he will run so whoever made the decision in Ladbrokes must be feeling pretty stupid now.

Thats a disgrace if people left the preview before any of the Kauto Star news came out they were entitled to 18/1 no matter what.

Worst bookmakers in the World imho. It's wrong but doesn't surprise me.

Also, you probably could have got 18/1 in any other bookies on that day (18/1 price wasn't that special and 10s was taking the piss).

i think it's around 16/1 shortest price at the mo.

I'd be inclined to turn this on its head - if Long Run had the schooling accident and was only 50/50 to line-up, would you still have done the bet? Before money changes hands, both parties have the opportunity to change their minds imo.

Besides, they saved you €100 ;-)

But if that was the case I am 1000% sure Ladbrokes would still have offered the 18/1 (0nly) ....and not pointed out "Long Run accident" if you went up to the counter with the promo offer guaranteed the night before for use in their shops the next day !

Paddy Power have offered all those who were there on the night the 18/1 up until the off on Tuesday. Max bet €100.

    Read this in The Mirror.

Definitely not. But if you had information that the bookies weren't smart enough or didn't work hard enough to find out, you wouldn't tell them either!

but vitally in the case as outlined by the original poster, those that had a stamped piece of paper to use in Lads the following day should have had their bets honoured...certainly not other customers. another PR disaster by Ladbrokes.

The 1st chance people had to back the offer was when the shops opened the following morning so by reducing the price offered to a pretty poor 10/1 without taking a bet, was a very poor show by Ladbrokes.
