    Just spotted this on DoneDeal...

Is it the last Irish Datsun Cherry?

I recall when Datsun/Nissan Ireland bought up any survivors they could get there hands on back in the 1990's due to chassis corrosion.

I also recall test-driving a Coupe version....reverse gear was where 1st gear is in most other cars!:D

    The last N10? Doubt it.
I reckon I have the last original FII 2 door though. No one has ever proved me wrong.

    Didn't realise 'shed' was a verb !

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Why did they buy them? To scrap them?

How did they get the owner's details?

Looks nice original motor, not many of these around. Doesn;t seem 30 years since they were launched :D A must for a datsun fan, must be a few that started to drive in these.

Yes, they scrapped them. I believe Nissan were concerned about possible legal actions as a result of crashes.

Afaik, motor manufacturers can apply to the Dept of Environment and be given owner details in the event of recalls, etc.

Nissan Ireland may also have advertised the fact in national newspapers.
I knew of a guy who was going around buying them up in the 1990's and in turn selling them back to Nissan. (I was working in the motor trade at the time and heard about this guy).
