International minutes/calls

Does anyone know the cheapest way to make calls from an Irish mobile to a UK mobile?

Is there a contract with a network that offers these kind of international minutes by any chance? Or would it be better to go with one of those companies where you dial a number first before dialling the international number, to get a cheaper rate? If so, anyone know the name of a good one there too?

    Thanks!

Best option is to use an app like Viber, if possible.

Meteor charge 15 cent per minute to UK mobiles via a free add-on.

The Rebtel app charges 13 to 15 cent per minute to UK mobiles.

3 include UK mobile calls in the 'Flexi Units' as part of their bill pay packages.

Have a look at Tesco mobile, I think they have low international rates.

Worth noting: 7 cent AND you are charged a connection fee of 5 cent per call AND you are also billed for the local Irish call. On top of that, a lot of these types of services are blocked by certain mobile providers.

Tesco Mobile have cheap international call rates to landlines in a select number of countries.

The OP asked for cheap calls to UK mobiles.

    Huh?

3: Free UK mobile calls with your inclusive minutes.
Meteor: 15 cent per minute UK calls with free add-on.
Vodafone: 10 cent per minute UK calls with free add-on.
BlueFace: Free UK mobile calls with your inclusive minutes.
RebTel: 13-15 cent per minute UK mobile calls.
Google Talk: 9.8 cent per minute UK mobile calls.

Tesco Mobile: 20 cent per minute UK mobile calls.

Relatively speaking, Tesco Mobile are expensive for UK mobile calls.

Just highlighting that Tesco don't only offer cheap calls to landlines, they also have excellent rates to mobiles too in selected countries (though obviously not for the UK).

    :)

    Hi,
This is an official rep of Viber :)

Just thought I'd add some precise numbers, for those of you with limited data plans: Viber uses about 0.25MB per minute, and up to 1KB per text message.
That's on 3G. When using it on WiFi, naturally, it does not use up the data plan at all.

As a rule of thumb, 3's gocall.ie, Vodafones add on(s) and Meteors add on offer better value than Tesco Mobile to international mobiles. There are a small number of regional exceptions. However, generally, Google Talk/Google Voice and Rebtel are better value than all the providers.

    Hi Viber,

Do you have intention of offering calls to traditional mobiles and landlines in the future?

    Thanks.

Use smartvoip.com they have a smartphone apps called mobilevoip and lowcaller. mobilevoip allows you use broadband to make calls and lowcaller assigns you a local number but automatically dials this number when you call internationally, handy for using free minutes from provider
think UK mobiles is 7c/min. You get free calls to US and Canada, as well as free calls to Oz landlines for 365 days when you top up by more than 25e
Downside is sometimes call quality can be iffy, but rarely

    @Fungus -
This is a service we're interested in offering in the future, but we don't have any concrete news.
Stay tuned for news and updates :)
