Hi, Now im a complete novice when it comes to cars. But last week my car wouldnt start when I put the key in the ignition. So I rang breakdown assistance and the mechanic that came out and looked at the car said it was due to the immobiliser in the key. I rang the closest Opel dealer and he said id have to get in contact with the dealer the car was bought from. Only problem is the car was imported from england and I dont know how to find out where exactly it was bought. Does anyone know and easy/cheap way to sort my problem. I dont mind if I have to get a new key, I just need my car back on the road asap. Thanks.

Can't see why they can't order a new key and program it for you. Whats this thing about the mainland England? Never heard that you need the dealer where you bought the car in order to sort out the key/immobiliser issue. Any main Opel dealer should be able to sort it.

Just after thinking is your car a Vauxhall? Maybe Opel here and Vauxhall there are slightly different but I can't see how.

If the main dealer in your area won't do it for you (they should) try ringing around or calling into a couple of garages, explain your situation and ask them can they point you in they right direction.
