I'll let a "Mackem" second guess the starting 11 for the home side, Liverpool might or might not have Johnson and Gerrard back. Will Carroll and/or Bellamy start?

could be anything from this (last weeks starting 11)

    Reina
    Kelly
    Carra----Skrtel---Enrique
    Henderson-Spearing-Adam-Downing
    Kuyt-Suarez

    to this

    Reina
    Johnson-Coates-Skrtel-Enrique
    Spearing-Adam
    Downing---Gerrard
    Bellamy
    Suarez

    Possibly this:
    Mignolet

    Bardsley O'Shea Turner Bridge

    Larsson Vaughan Gardner McClean

    Campbell

    Bendtner

    1-1.

COCK. I left Sessegnon in my dream team. FFS.

Can't see too many goals in this one. Maybe 1-1.

Gonna hope for a 2-0 to the pool, Bellamy with one then carroll/suarez/maxi with the other. There my bets anyway.

    Projecting a Liverpool victory.

This is a must win game for Liverpool. Sunderland are on a bad run at the moment but might cause an upset.

Explain a bad run. They have only lost 3 times since December(Arsenal, Chelsea and WBA)

Sunderland have hit a poor run of results as compared to the initial O'Neill bounce. Its all relative though. Liverpool have been in a league slump for weeks.

    I'd go:
    Reina
    Kelly Carra Skrtel Enrique
    Henderson Spearing
    Adam
    Kuyt Suarez Bellamy

... assuming Gerrard & Johnson are still out. I can see Kenny lining the team up like this though:
    Reina
    Kelly Carra Skrtel Enrique
    Spearing
    Henderson Adam Downing
    Carroll Suarez

A frustrating draw is my prediction

Doni to bang a hattrick and Coates with 40 yard diving header. Liverpool to win by 4 clear Suarez gifs.

It'll be weird watching Liverpool on the telly, especially in the premier league, used to watching streams. I feel like it'll be harder to win because of this. :p

Maybe I should just watch it on the computer. :D

There'll be no skipping or buffering issues like there inevitably is when goals are scored on streaming matches. Because of this, I believe there will be no goals scored.

If they let the match be played on the computer I would be confident I could get a result against Sunderland.....might even be able to manage a Carroll hat trick.

2-1 Liverpool with a dodgy peno that they will score leading to cries of small teams never getting decisions.

Shots on goal with no buffering = no hitting woodwork !

No Carroll ? ... Think Kenny is starting to see the wood from the trees.

Look at this big piece of Adam wood over here Kenneth

I will be watching big time Charlie today to see if the attitude has changed.

Would like Downing instead of Kuyt, but guess he is in because the midfield is a bit light. Thought Carroll might have started too, if he cannot get fired up for this game he has no chance.

Glad to see Coates in there though.

Hopeful of a Black Cats win. Tough with the two suspended but hopeful.

Wow if that lineup's true, where does that leave Carra's future?

Hopefully as 4th choice. Can't fault the committment or past contributions, but he is not near as good as he used to be.

Being phased out and rightly so, pretty must cost Liverpool 3 points last week.

Can't see us even getting a point now to be honest, especially after seeing your line up.

A 1 goal win for Liverpool unfortunately :(

    Louise Suarez to score today.

Kuyt 13/1 to score first... seems a very big price.

I can see Sunderland causing Liverpool problems.

The loss against Arsenal was a bitter blow and confirmed without doubt that fourth is gone for yet another season so there could be a hangover i feel.

2 wins in 10 in the league for the Pool can see a draw here, although being away from home a Pool win is possible. 1-1 for me.

I wouldn't say it's a shock but a bit of a surprise, yes. I expected Kenny to stick with Carra. I know Carra's been crap but I still think it's something of a bold decision to further relegate Carragher down the pecking order, and I wonder how he will react to it. Already didn't seem too happy playing second fiddle to Agger/Skrtel.

I'm happy to see Coates given a chance anyway and see what he's made of. Can't comment if it's the right decision or not as I still don't know enough about Coates, but if he's as good as he's being talked about then he deserves a shot ahead of Carragher

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,243 ✭✭✭✭Jesus Wept

I wanted him to play Coates last week, might have been a better decision in hindsight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,998 ✭✭✭grohlisagod

Interesting line-up. I like Coates and am happy to see him get a shot but Carra is not going to like this which I think could be problematic longer-term.

I hate the way Carroll keeps being dropped like this. Just when his form picks up a bit he gets dropped and we're back to square one.

Colback had Henderson in his pocket in Anfield. I think it's a fair call by O'Neill.
