Anyone know why on East Road, coming from the south, after you go over the bridge over the railway line, the road is artifically narrowed, with only one lane of traffic, and traffics lights which allow only one direction through at a time?

    This has always mystified me!

The East Wall side of Johnny Cullens hill.

I've no idea, every time I use it I ask myself the same question.

It's a pedestrian crossing and traffic calming.

Checked with the DCC Traffic Department. Following complaints about the volume of rat running in the East Wall area, this arrangement was agreed with local residents as a traffic calming measure and to reduce traffic volumes on East Road.
