    Just curious about Furet.:confused: Used to give fantastic pictures and updates and was a mod IIRC. I wonder what happened to him. His posts on the M8 were fantastic. Maybe he is still lurking or posts elsewhere?

    He seems to have stepped down as a mod of this forum allthough I am sure he will still contribute as usual. He is now Antmann btw... http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/member.php?u=71931

    He's still there mate - even if he has stepped down as Moderator here. His alias was 'Furet', the it became 'Tremelo' and is now 'Amtmann'.

    whatever happened to all the folks (above) who are now with closed accounts ?
    Such a collection of posters with high post counts who contributed to infrastructre and roads topics and now dead to the world (of boards)!

    Yeah, strange stuff. I've wondered before why folks go to the trouble of actually closing an account on a forum like boards. I mean, it doesn't cost anything to just leave it. There must be some catch I'm missing.

    I think they have to close it to open a new account with a new username. Some people like to change it up to lower their post count (just in case the boss is watching ;) )

    Victor, I was just wondering what happened in a general sense to a lot of former Mods and major contributors to commuting and infrastructure in the past and why someone in general might close an account suddenly rather than simply keep it open and go awol/ stop posting.

    I dont think its a matter of privacy as I/ we in general dont know those folks in person but did enjoy their input.
    If they(or people in general) close an account in order to come back under a new alias then thats fine AND indeed we dont need to know if any of the individuals are here under a different alias

    You can change your username if you subscribe / are a moderator; you can also just open a new account and stop using the old one without having it marked as closed.

    • I lurk on this forum at least once per week, sometimes more.
    • I closed my account because Boards was taking up too much time, and I thought closing it was a good way to kill the persona and reduce my time on Boards.
    • Good to see many of the old-timers still here :-)
