    Hi all,
was just wondering if I can run 5 satellite boxes from a Quad LNB? I thought about using some kind of splitter on one of the lines and splitting it in to two boxes but not sure how to do it...I dont want to go to the trouble of getting an Octo LNB and getting the ladder out again. So if anyone knows a handy way I would be very grateful...thanks

The only way you can run 5 receivers off a quad lnb & have all channels available to each simultaneously, is to use a multiswitch that works with quad as well as quattro lnbs.

If a receiver has an IF-out, you could loop it to another, but if both are on at the same time the 2nd will be limited to channels of the same band & polarity as the 1st.

Get an octo. Its the cheapest and easiest way to do it.

No, actually the cheapest solution is NOT best. Also a Multiswitch is easier to add than Octo.

Octos are less reliable, heavier and marginally poorer performance and only expandable with a Multiswitch.

Optionally you can have 16 to 2000 outlets with a Multiswitch and easily up to 3 more LNBs and TV aerial. A basic Multiswitch with Quad & Quattro mode needs no access to dish and can be fitted ANYWHERE on the 4 cables.

    How does that work Watty
I fitted a quatro + multiswitch +UHF aerial to feed DTT and FTA around the house with diplexer wall plates
    Works well

Paul I have a triax box which I use to feed sat around the house, it has a UHF input which I used many years ago to feed a UPC signal.

What do you use for the DTT antenna? I can get DTT signal in my house using an 'active' indoor antenna.

Would an indoor antenna connected to the triax box do the job or is an external antenna necessary? My triax box (I think it's called a diplexor?) is in the eaves of my attic and easily accessible so i could put an indoor antenna there easily. Failing that I'd have to get an external antenna and clamp it to the dish bracket which would be a lot more hassle.

    Hi there
I live in a poor Saorview area so had to use an outdoor aerial with a masthead amp to boost the signal to compensate for the losses through the Multiswitch
Check your locatoion on the Saorview coverage map-its faily accurate.
If you are in a good reception area you may get away with an indoor UHF aerial
    Best of luck
