Will be Gorey, Co.Wexford Wed/Thur/Friday and would like any course recommendations where to play. I will be on my own if anyone would like to join up.

Cortown is nice. Seafield not as good, but close too

Agreed, Courtown is at the top of the list for sure, then a toss up between Ballymoney (no pretensions) and Seafield (too many). There's also Enniscorthy, although that may be too far for you.

Let me know what day you decide to play and I'll try and join you - back end of next week is busy for me at the moment and Thursday's a write-off.

That would be great. At the moment it could be around 4ish Wednesday or Friday morning if you are stuck for Thursday. I will post you on Monday evening

Was down visiting my sister last weekend and played Ballymoney. Was quite surprised how much I enjoyed it. Some of the holes a bit samey on front 9 but apart from that it was a lovely course.

    Greens were in super nick.

Get yourself up to Arklow, only 20 minutes up the road. Great links course in great nick at the moment.

I am bias however as I am a member! :)

If you don't mind driving for 30 minutes:

Woodenbridge, outside Arklow is a lovely course.

    Bunclody golf and fishing club

or Coollattin Golf Club (http://www.coollattingolfclub.com/) which according to the AA is in Coolattin. A hidden gem because nobody can spell it.

I haven't played the last 2 but have heard good things about both. They are on my list to play next time I'm in the area.

    In order:

    Woodenbridge
    Coollatin
    Arklow

I haven't played any of the Wexford courses so I can't comment on them.

I'd go with most of the advice give. Courtown, Arklow (15/20), Woodenbridge (20/25) are all cracking courses. I'd go with Arklow myself, the mix of links/parkland is great, Woodenbridge next followed by Courtown. Ballymoney public course is good but a tier or two lower than those mentioned.

I just don't like Seafield so I wont comment.

() = Driving time from Ballymoney.

Thanks for the reply Thegen. Would it be hard to fall in with local players in Woodenbridge, I will be not be accompanied.

Not sure to be honest. A mate of mine is the course super there. I generally play it with a group of lads during the summer. Members seem like a welcoming bunch any time I've been, so should be ok for you to join up with someone.

Just contact me if you are interested in a game at Woodenbridge.

If I'm available I'll gladly bring you around for a game.

Cost then is 15 euro or 45 for 3.

That goes for anyone on the golf boards. (Well almost everyone :) )

Cant believe nobody's mentioned Bunclody. About the same travelling time from Gorey, but Dont even think about Enniscorthy.
