Your Golfing Trousers

Can anyone recommend me some good trousers now the warm weather is coming back a bit and we can get rid of the wet-gear.

Ideally I would like them to have the 'bootcut' or 'flare' effect, having some trouble finding a nice pair.

    Thanks!

Subseventy do great trousers but can be pricy. Great deals when they have a sale on

Penneys! I actually picked up a nice pair for €9. Debenhams have good selection and not too pricey.

Dunnes Stores have nice trousers for 25e. Very comfortable and they have elastic waistband which makes them very comfortable to wear golfing etc .. look pretty snazzy too in grey and navy with small pinstripe.

New spring lines just out today at SubSeventy - got the email in earlier. Haven't bought trousers there before though - you can actually order custom too.

I asked this a while ago - just wouldn't buy trousers online as the postage is too much to return if they don't fit. I've tried all the usual places around Dublin and to be honest the selection is pants

McGuirks and Halpenny are pretty much tied into those expensive and average looking O'Dwyers trousers....or Nike in black.

Are there any pro shops around Dublin that carry anything decent - have had and liked Ping, Adidas in the past - quite like the look of some of the new Puma offerings.

Do you not know ur size by now dude? If ur in any doubt just buy the next size up and have ur tailor pull them in the waist or up the leg etc, easy. The climacool are well worth the money, can be got for 45 sterling delivered.. The adidas ones are done in Waist and Length not just M/L/XL ec so itl be easier for you to know ur size

They have the Climacool on the county golf website for 19.99. most golf trousers are done in Waist and leg but some are slim fitting and some are loose try and find them in a shop try them on then buy them on line.

Size my arse (excuse the pun).
Was in McGuirks in Blanch a while back and bought two trousers from a selection they had at half price.
One was a Kartel and the other an O'Dywer and while both claim to be the same size, the Kartel is certainly more, how can I put it, forgiving around the waist.

Usually I wouldn't bother trying on stuff, but before buying online I would advise trying on the brand/model if possible.

    Lads,

Whilst I appreciate your advice on how to fit a pair of trousers I was only asking if anyone had seen any decent brands around Dublin

    Apologies for the hijack!

And just try the J Lindeberg stuff  Slim fitting an understatement :(

Don't think they are due to be released for another few months but the GMac by Kartel trousers are class

I like the O'Dwyers trousers. And sizes in golf trousers are ridiculous. They seem to bear no relation to sizes in suit trousers / jeans / etc. I don't understand how 30" can be so different in two different pairs of pants.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,627 ✭✭✭Benicetomonty

Agree with the sizes, they seem to be way off when it comes to golf trousers. I've three pairs of JLindebergs and had to have a tailor take in all three. 32 inches waist from JL is actually 34 inches so watch out for that if you're thinking of investing. Tried on a pair of Kartels once with similar problems. Compare that to Remus trousers, which I usually wear to work, and 32L size is perfect for me.

To return to OP, McGuirks stocks the best range imo - Puma, JL, Kartel, Nike and a few more. They're pretty expensive though, I usually try and pick stuff up during sales.

After reading some of your remarks about the fit and style of golf trousers.Iwas wondering would there be an intrest in having trousers tailor made. With hundreds of clothes to choose from, lightweights to heavyweights and any style you desire.

I just buy trousers in Marks & Spencer, they've a variety of price options, style options within each price option, different cuts, different fits, the lot.

All this "golf trousers" stuff confuses me, what makes them more for golf than a pair of regular trousers?

I thought the same myself last year until i bought Adidas climacool ones, very very very comfortable and light for summer, pants and shoes are high on my priority list, comfort is number one in my book

Funny enough i'm in the market for trosusers myself, and going around places its actually scary at the lack of trousers that I would wear golfing.

Pilled on the weight since I stopped playing sports and I'm a 46" waist.

Might give the norman bad boys a shot from what that guy linked.

€20 for three pairs of trousers delivered you say ? Or €20 for the shipping?

Chinos are too heavy. When chinos get wet or its warm its soapy balls time. Crude but a fact nevertheless.
